If you weren't already aware, Cape Town's Fugard Theatre is currently playing host to one of the greatest cult productions, the Rocky Horror Show. On Saturday 3 of the Smudged girls made their way to this not-to-be-missed production, and took the opportunity to recreate the look of one of the best characters from the show...Magenta!

Yip you're gonna need all of this. We're going to be creating a stage make-up look so in this case, more is more! Be prepared to layer your shadows, line those lids and place eyelash glue in places it's never been before!

Step 1

Begin with a prepped face. This means primer, foundation and setting powder. Magenta has a porcelain white face so we used Benefit's Play Stick in Jax to achieve the palest base possible with the foundations we own and concealed/highlighted with MAC Prep & Prime Illuminator in Radiant Rose. Using a white Essence setting powder we set everything to a matte finish. Don't worry if it appears cakey, this will add to the finished look. We also filled in the brows with a dark brown pencil and set with brow gel. Magenta's brows are very dark, so don't be scared to overdo it!

Step 2

You need to really layer whatever eye shadow you have to get that distinctive half moon shape. Take a purple or taupe shadow and blend all the way up past your crease and to your brow. We used MAC shadows Nocturnelle and Embark together. Then, to really make the colour pop, we applied a rose blush to the arch.

Step 3

Now grab any kohl liner (we used MAC smolder) and line both your top lid and waterline. Take a blending brush (if you don't have one, an earbud will work too) and smudge the kohl down into your lower lashes. Use a liquid liner (we used NYX Super Skinny Marker) to darken the kohl on the upper lid. To finish the eye, use a white shadow like Clinique Sugar Sugar to further define the round shape on the lids.

Step 4

Attach two sets of falsies to both your top and bottom lashes, making sure they are as close to the lashline as possible.

Step 5

Grab a matte red lipstick, (we used MAC Heartless) and, using the same black kohl liner from earlier, trace along the outer edge of your lips as if it were a lipliner. And drumroll...Magenta takes to the stage!

(No true geekout is complete without a photo with the show's very own Frank N Furter!)
