A second chance for Second Time Around
An eclectic mix of your Grandmothers wardrobe and The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is the only way I can try emulate what is now the new and improved Second Time Around. We can't only call it "vintage" as that word has been watered down to describe something old you haven't worn in a while. Tut tut is what the mother and daughter duo Shelley and Kyla will say if you bring them bags of dirty left overs, this store is not only for denim jeans of the 90s, but rather floor length velvet and silk-tulle dresses of the Forties and Ferragamo flats of the Sixties. You will always find a little surprise in one of the many corners of the store. I walk in and am immediately drawn into my fantasy world, with rails of silk shirts and a millinery stand to your right, this store is filled with stories, let your imagination run wild. Think Russian spies, The Great Gatsby, World War 2, housewives of the Fifties and everything in between. There is something to suit all our alter egos from big magenta sleeves to oversized glasses, houndstooth trousers and menswear for the underground London-types. Winter will be lots more fun with them in town. Off to Long St we go!
