House of Ole A/W13

Black and red dominated at House of Ole, not to mention the 80s inspiration and the winning optical prints. I wish we had seen more prints at SAFW, the white & black jackets carried an Austin Powers  "time machine" embossment and it was brilliant. I mean really really great. I loved the red jacket with grey trouser and mock riding chaps. The look was clean, tailored and slightly oversized. The lace suit also stood out, and is at least on its way to the massive European brocade trend. Plastic raincoats were definitely the highlight, Habits also showed with plastic recently and I just LOVE the concept of seeing what is underneath! Menswear was layered with subtle hints of brown, the suits had great lapels, I wish i hadn't seen the tyre-track print in the collection. As beautiful as it is, it took away from the clean solid-colour look of the show. But that comes down to an edit, and besides that I really enjoyed the strong red for winter.
